I was very eager while picking up A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab. You see, I really enjoyed the rest of the series, and I am happy to say that the book did not disappoint me at all. If you love an iconic and dynamic series finale with page after page of action, then this may be the perfect book for you.
This book follows our main characters going on the quest to rescue Red London from the dark magic’s curse. The writing is so well done that all the scenes felt very real. The worldbuilding stayed consistent and interesting through and through. But I specifically liked the multiple point-of-view writing system. By getting the perspective of several other characters, we not only understood the depth of the magic’s curse, but we also felt more connected to the characters. All characters, especially Kell and Holland grow a lot through the events of this book.
If you like complex but also interesting character dynamics, then this may be a book you will enjoy. The relationships between the characters (Kell and Lila, Alucard and Rhy) were very well done. Kell and Lila’s romance never felt rushed but also moved at just the right pace.
I found it almost impossible to stop reading this book because the plot moves very freely. The mysterious aspects of the book keep you on your toes and the ending felt fulfilling, satisfying and even a bit melancholic.
All in all, this book felt like the perfect finale to such a cool trilogy. I am happy to admit that I found myself both laughing and crying while reading the book. I will most definitely be recommending this to everyone I know.
