5 Stars
As Good As Dead is the third and final book in the popular AGGGTM (A Good Girl's Guide to Murder) series by Holly Jackson. Although I cannot express how much I adored this book, I will say that I rated it 5 stars for a reason. (I rarely rate books 5 stars.) This book was absorbing and had an amazing hook that pulled the reader in from the start. While reading it, I felt like experiencing the book first-hand, from the main character's perspective. I felt like I could understand and relate to Pip's (the main character's) emotions, feelings, thoughts, and reasons. It was a well-written story. It's obvious the author put tremendous effort into it. The plot twists were crazy, and the characters and storyline were perfect. Set the mood of the book. Hats off to the author! I like the message or the story the author was trying to tell through this book. From my perspective, the book followed themes such as "good" people do "bad" things sometimes, justice is not always served, and your voice has an impact. This book felt real. The characters felt real. That's what I liked best. In short, the book is about Pip, a small-town investigator, still traumatized by how her last case ended. She is about to head into college when she receives scary, concerning threats. She's used to the usual hate-threats from her viral true-crime podcast, but this one is different. "Who will look for you when you disappear?" Read the book to find out more! Trust me, you won't regret it! (P.S. It's best to read all the books before watching the Netflix series version!)
