Have you ever wanted to experience a 2000s rom-com movie, not by watching it, but by reading it? Well, then, I have the perfect book suited just to your taste. Better Than The Movies remains true to its name. It is better than the movies, to be clear. I first read this book approximately 1.5 years ago, and it remains my favourite book of all time. I know. That's quite the title to give to a book, especially as an avid reader. However, it is well deserved. Typically, I enjoy Fantasy, with a subplot of romance or a thriller to keep me on my toes. Yet, my favourite book is a teenage romance between two neighbours, Liz Buxbaum, a rom-com fanatic and Wesley Bennet, her next-door neighbour and enemy. Yes, you heard it right. BTTM (Better Than The Movies) is an enemy to lovers' romance. I KNOW. One of the best tropes to ever exist, in my opinion (arguably a fact - JK!). Liz is a bubbly teen who exudes enthusiasm, in particular to her interest in romantic comedies. She is relatable in her interest in rom-coms, but similarly in her interest in boys… Liz wants Michael. So…what does that mean?? FAKE DATING!! Once again, I know. Maybe this is the best trope to ever exist…So, I am telling you that there is FAKE DATING and ENEMY TO LOVERS in ONE BOOK. Also, there's prom and movies and basketball and rain and everything that any rom-com lover would say is essential for making a good rom-com. Liz Buxbaum and Wes Bennet are my idea of the perfect book couple…and there's a sequel, which is a whole other review. If you like rom-coms, funny characters and a good time, please read BTTM, because it is made for you!!
