Scarlet is like most ordinary teenagers, wanting to be free from restrictions her overprotective mom has put on her and living her life the way she wants to, with no fear and hesitation. However, when the FBI show up at her door, things take a turn. She finds out her father, whom she hasn't met in decades, is a serial killer. And not just an ordinary one, a serial killer who killed and tortured many young women and hid their bodies in the deep woods. Everything falls into place. Her father being a notorious serial killer is exactly why her mother had always been so paranoid about everything she did and strict as to who she hung out with and where she was at all times. But the question is... why is the FBI here? Well, her monster of a father is dying from cancer, and he has a wish... one last wish before he dies. To meet Scarlet. To see her. To tell her the names of his un-found victims' bodies. Is she scared? Yes. Is she sick to her stomach knowing she shares half her DNA with a serial killer psychopath? Definitely. But will she meet him? Will she bring justice to her father's victims and their families? And what happens if she does meet him? How will the public react? And, more importantly, how will this shape her future? Read to find out! I personally loved this book, even with its very dark and twisted characters, as I like dark themes and mystery books. Just like I mentioned before, Daughter has a lot of serious and sensitive details in the book. I personally thought the details of her father's crimes added more depth to the book, and for me, it pulled me more into the book and made me want to read it ASAP. My absolute favourite character was Scarlet's love interest, Luca, who coincidentally happens to be the FBI agent's son! In my opinion, the love interest, Luca, is the best thing that happens to Scarlet in the entire book, and their romance is something to look forward to if you plan on reading. Overall, I give this book a 9/10. If you're someone who's into thriller, mystery, and crime and can handle mature topics, this book is a must-read!
