The book Death Note Volume 1 is about a model teenager and ace student, Light Yagami. Light finds his life tedious, leading him to find a notebook dropped from the Realm of the Shinigami. This notebook can kill any human whose name is written in the notebook. After testing the notebook on a criminal, he realized he could use the Death Note as a weapon to formulate a utopia. But as the death toll has dramatically increased, it has furor within the country, grabbing the attention of the police and "Interpol's shadowy mastermind" known as L. Now, Light is in a vulnerable position since he has strong connections with the police. But he uses this to his advantage since he has access to crucial information in the house left by his father. Despite being a step ahead, an unknown man seems to be following him wherever he goes. How will he be able to accomplish his goal without being caught?

I have loved the book so far; it has an interesting plot and witty dialogue. The illustrations were amazing, and I loved the portrayal of Light and L's character. However, I feel they should make the book more about L than Light since the main objective of the mission is to catch Kira. I love how the plot is consistent and gets readers longing for more. Despite understanding that Light's actions were wrong, I understand where he is coming from. I love L's resilient nature and shockingly amazing plans. I loved the twists and turns, and I found nothing wrong with the book, so I would give this a 5/5.
