By Holly Jackson
5 Stars
In the span of almost 400 pages, Holly Jackson created a book that many will love. Although the book starts off slow, once it got into the premise of the actual story, I was hooked. With amazing twists and turns, this book had me on the edge of my seat as I read it within one sitting. Five Survive had me wishing I had popcorn with me as I flipped through the pages. The story takes place in an RV with six teens on their way to spend their Spring Break on a trip to Gulf Shores, where half their class will also be going. But on the way, something happens that changes not only their break but also their lives. My attention stayed on the book as I tried to think of what would come next. With secrets being spilled, we learn a lot about the six characters on the RV. Each one is written beautifully and shows how circumstances can cause different reactions. Reading Red and her friends' stories will make you feel worry, fear, and anger as they do. To enjoy a book you need to love the characters even though the story is only told through a couple of hours and a single POV. The characters were easy to love (at least most of them) and had me wishing for more pages so I could learn more about each character as I reached the end. Finishing this book will have you grasping at straws as you try to piece together everything given to you while also making you want more. Holly Jackson really wrote a thriller you won't forget.
