Icebreaker by Hannah Grace is a contemporary romance novel that dives deep into the dynamics of relationships, personal growth, and emotional healing. The story follows Anastasia Allen, a figure skater with dreams to make it to the Olympics and Nate Hawkins, a charming, off-limits and talented hockey player. Their worlds collide with a mix of competitive tension and mutual misunderstanding, but as the story unfolds, their lives become increasingly intertwined. I personally loved the banter between characters; it is witty and realistic, making their interactions engaging and authentic. One of the best parts of the book is how well the characters are developed. Anastasia’s journey is really relatable as she struggles to balance her intense training with her personal life and emotions. Nate has layers of vulnerability and kindness, along with a deep and tragic backstory that makes him stand out. Their chemistry is electric, with lots of heartfelt and spicy moments that keep you hooked on their evolving relationship. However, the pacing of the story can be a bit uneven. Some parts, especially those that dive deep into the technical aspects of figure skating and hockey, might feel slow for some readers. On the flip side, the romantic developments sometimes happen a bit too quickly. Despite these minor issues, Icebreaker is a great book for those that like reading books about young love and lighthearted romance. It does a great job balancing the excitement of competitive sports with the journey of a romantic relationship. This book is definitely a must-read.
