This book was a thrilling read that had me sucked in from the beginning with fully fleshed-out characters and an intriguing plot. This book was quickly one of my favourites. Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare was beautifully written with plot twists I couldn't see coming. It starts off the series The Dark Artifices, which follows parabatai Julian Blackthorn and Emma Carstairs as they try to uncover why the bodies of fairies and humans start to turn up suspiciously with the same marks that were found on Emma's parents when they died. Emma Carstairs and Julian Blackthorn are no longer children watching the chaos of the Shadow World but young adults who are on the path to protect their family and get revenge. Each character introduced was made with flaws, and I loved reading such detailed people. It made it very easy to fall in love with characters and relate to them. While reading, I loved exploring both Emma's and Julian's perspectives on what was going on and how they've coped since the City Of Heavenly Fire. Their relationship with each other and the other Blackthorn siblings made me smile. It's such an adorable thing. Another thing I loved was that there were cameos of characters from the past books. It was so fun to read the interactions between characters, and I liked how it still stuck to the storyline and did not drag in different plot lines that wouldn't fit. This book is another amazing addition to the Shadowhunter world.
