Evangelion Volume Three (collection of volumes 7, 8, 9) is written by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, who once again does justice to this amazing series and delivers another worthy adaptation of the source material. This volume continues directly after the events of Volume Six and continues onward with the main story. Throughout this volume, the stakes continue to get more intense, and the story has a much more serious weight to it compared to the previous volumes.

Furthermore, Volume Three just feels more tense and has a higher anticipation factor than the others, in my opinion. This volume almost feels like a buildup to something much bigger in Volume Ten, possibly, and I feel that is the key to making this volume as enjoyable as it is. There were a plentiful number of moments throughout that left me surprised and shocked by the revelations presented in the story. I was honestly shocked and confused at some of the moments, some being extremely unexpected but nonetheless foreseeable in a way that feels connected to the story at heart. I would say that this is a large turning point for Evangelion once again, as the story takes a darker tone after the events of Volume Six. There are fewer comical moments in this volume than any other, leading to the story having a much more serious feeling, as I stated earlier, though all of this is just my opinion and may be completely different from someone else's. Overall, I found this volume to be incredibly enjoyable, comparable to Volume Two, but with a much higher intensity and action. With all that being said, this volume gets a solid 5/5, and I will be reading volumes 10, 11, 12, and 13 in the future.
