5 Stars
Evangelion Volumes Ten, Eleven and Twelve, written and illustrated by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, is one of the final volumes of the masterpiece of a series that is Evangelion. This collection of volumes covers the true climax of the series, with everything foreshadowed in previous volumes coming to fruition in this one. Continuing directly from the events of Volume Nine that was very much left on a cliffhanger, this gives a conclusion to that cliffhanger and continues onward with the story up to the ending, coming up to the climax of the entire story of Evangelion.
Which left me quite shocked and stunned, though more so than all the other volumes. This collection of volumes is my favourite of the series, with it having the most action and impactful scenes of the bunch. Many of the mysteries of Evangelion are revealed in this volume as the series is near its final curtain, bringing an extreme amount of excitement, worry, and anticipation for what will happen in the story and how it will end. This volume is even more beautifully illustrated than the ones before, and each panel feels like more care has been taken to deliver a truly impactful experience while reading. This volume has one of my favourite panels of all time; for me, at least, this felt extremely impactful and caused me to feel quite amazed by the art and how that scene was portrayed in this manga. Continuing with this fact, I found this volume to be a masterclass in most if not all, categories for manga. From the story to art, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto delivered in all aspects contained in this volume. Overall, I found this to be a stunning build-up to the conclusion of Evangelion, even surpassing my initial expectations of this series, earning it a well-deserved 5/5 due to the sheer excitement I had while reading.
