Once Upon a Broken Heart is one of the BEST fantasy romance books on shelves. The Prince of Hearts??? Immortals??? Magic??? 3 words. Sign. Me. Up. To BEGIN… Evangeline is a romantic…very relatable, might I add. Her love of love is endearing and adds an element of fairy tale to the simultaneously thrilling story. The plot and characters are intricate and make you think deeply…you question who is who and what is what to the point where merely turning the page is not enough. Once Upon a Broken Heart becomes an experience where each page flows together BECAUSE YOU CANNOT PUT IT DOWN.
Every aspect of this book was exceptional. I cannot find an element that could be complained about or talked about as if it wasn't excellent. I fell in love with Jacks alongside Evangeline, but I simultaneously felt as if I WAS Evangeline. It is a rarity to find a book so loveable that its flaws are undetected; it's as if you are blinded by love. I was able to find such a rare occurrence in Once Upon a Broken Heart, also known as OUABH.
I would recommend this book to anybody who loves magical systems, royalty, romance, fantasy, and a book to think about for hours, days, months and years after turning the final page.
And the best part. There. Are. More. Books. Once Upon a Broken Heart is a part of a series of 3, however it is linked to another series in the same magical universe, by the same author!!! Caraval, an intensely thrilling novel and series, depicts characters from OUABH in a different setting with new stories that add to their character even more!!
If you couldn't already tell… I love this book.
