This story is about a young teenager named Percy Jackson; he discovers that he is half-human, half-god, the son of the sea god Poseidon. Zeus, the god of gods and god of the sky, had his master lighting bolt stolen, and Percy was the prime suspect. Percy now has to embark on a quest to find the thief and prevent a war starting between the gods. I liked how the storyline was making me very engaged in the book. This book was a page-turner, and I was very curious about what was to come next. The themes in The Lighting Thief were friendship, loyalty and bravery, highlighting the importance of teamwork and standing by one another in times of adversity. The Lighting Thief introduces an important message I really like about how Percy discovers his true identity, learns his abilities and meets his father. I also learned a lot from The Lighting Thief, inspiring a love for Greek mythology for younger readers. I recommend The Lighting Thief to any age group, but specifically younger kids around the age of 10-14. This is mostly because of the themes, which are a blend of adventure, humour, and mythology, making it a popular choice among tweens and teenagers. Overall, The Lightning Thief is a versatile book that can be recommended to a wide audience, from young readers discovering mythology for the first time to adults looking for an entertaining and well-crafted adventure story.
