By Alice Feeney
5 Stars
If you're into books that keep you guessing the whole way through, Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney is definitely worth checking out. It's a psychological thriller, but not too hard to follow or overly dramatic. It just pulls you in and messes with your mind in the best way.
The story is about a married couple who go on a weekend trip to fix their relationship. They stay in this creepy old chapel in the middle of nowhere, and then, from the start, you could tell something weird is going on. It feels like the characters are hiding stuff from each other and from the reader too. That's part of what makes the book so good. You never really know who to trust.
What I liked most was how the author switches between different characters' points of view, so you slowly get more and more pieces of the puzzle. Also, the letters that are included between chapters are super interesting, even though you don't fully understand what they mean until later. The whole book feels like one big mystery that you're trying to solve.
The writing is really good, not too fancy but still smart, and the ending actually surprised me. Like, big twist. I kept flipping pages because I just had to know what was really going on.
Overall. Rock Paper Scissors is fast-paced, creepy, and really entertaining. If you like stories with twists and don't mind getting a little freaked out, you probably love this one. I couldn't put it down.
