Book Review: Secrets of Stone and Sea

5 stars

Secrets of the Stone and Sea is a fantasy novel following Peter and Kai, two identical twins and the accidental adventure they are forced to go on. Following the accidental ritual, they started after throwing a blood-sneeze-covered hotdog into the water at the Seaspire, summoning an angry god from the sea. The god threatens to flood the Seaspire on the next full moon, leading Kai, Peter, and their family to find clues to save their town from the wrath of the sea god. They find hidden clues to break seals in time for the full moon, releasing something that could beat the sea god.

This action-adventure book does a great job at building the plot and suspense with how the twins and their family have to go on an adventure to save their town; they bring a good mix of modern influences and Greek mythology into this book with the whole plot being centred around the myth of Atlantis. I think the author does a great job of helping the reader understand Greek myths and connecting the Greek myths to the main plot of the story using the clues and the locations the family visits during their journey. Overall, I think this book is very good, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Greek mythology and history. It does a great job of drawing you in with mysteries and clues.
