When Bass decides to skip school with his girlfriend Rosie, things take a sudden turn when a massive storm appears, which leads their boat to crash on the rocky shore of a deserted island. After regaining consciousness, Bass & Rosie decide to rest in a cold cave to get back their stamina to scale a cliff in the hope that escape awaits them on the other side. When Rosie is injured from losing her balance and nearly dying and breaking her leg. Bass has to figure out how to keep them both alive and has to figure out how to get out before they both die of starvation on the island. This book has a mix of danger and adventure.
This book is overall entertaining at times. Most of the time, one character is doing most of what they do. And when they are out of commission, or they are away, another person steps up, even if they are not completely sure if they can make it. Both of the main characters have their own role to play in surviving the island and its obstacles, and they would probably have ended up at the bottom of the ocean if it hadn't been for the other. Both characters have seemingly different backstories, and they use their different experiences to help each other out, and without going into much depth, they usually depend on each other to get things done. Even though this book isn't as long as others, it just makes the pacing better, and things don't have to be dragged out, which may appeal to different types of people.
