By Alan Dean Foster
4 Stars
If you love space adventures and cool fights between good and evil, then you’re sure to enjoy the novel Star Wars: The Force Awakensby Alan Dean Foster. This book is based on the live-action movie of the same name, and it takes you right into the Star Wars universe.
The story takes place many years after the original Star Wars trilogy. It introduces new heroes like Rey, a scavenger from Jakku, and Finn, a former stormtrooper who wants to change for the better, while bringing back characters you can never get tired of, Han Solo and his right-hand wookiee, Chewbacca. They all team up to defeat the new face of the dark side, Kylo Ren, who is part of the First Order, an organization with similar ideas to the Empire.
This book accurately puts all the excitement and action illustrated by moving pictures in the movie into words, but with even more descriptive details. Readers also get a better understanding of the feelings portrayed in the story through the book rather than the movie.
Although this book would be recommended for kids in middle school, if you enjoy following the main storyline in the Star Wars universe, go ahead and grab a copy, no matter how old you are.
