I feel like it's my civic duty to disclose trigger warnings for books before writing my reviews; this book contains death and abuse. If any of these topics make you uncomfortable or disturbed, I definitely recommend another book. The main genres for this book are drama, action, adventure, and fantasy. The setting takes place in Ancient India during a magical age, but not so industrial. The book follows through the main character's P.O.V., and it's the only P.O.V. through the story. The book itself has its moments when you feel like you're in a world that's surrounded by magic and hope sometimes.
I generally loved some of the characters and the very healthy friendships and families portrayed throughout this book. It made me feel safe while reading it. However, I feel like this book was very rushed and should've probably been made as a book series rather than just one stand-alone book; there was a grandeur amount of questions left unanswered. The book could've also used some more accurate history or research because, as someone who has a bunch of hyperfixations, including random world history, some parts of the plot were highly inaccurate in the story and the timeline… The book itself isn't really a quick read, but it also isn't a long and lengthy one either, with about 2-6 hours of reading time in total. This wasn't really the most regrettable read for myself this year, but it also wasn't my favourite either, so I don't really recommend it as much.
