The Housemaid by Freida McFadden is a must-read for any teen who enjoys a fast-paced mystery book. The book follows Millie, a young woman who works as a live-in housemaid for the affluent Winchester family. At first, everything seemed perfect, a couple that loved each other devotedly. The husband, Andrew Winchester, is a very successful man, a loving husband, and also extremely handsome. But as strange and dangerous events unfold, Millie must navigate the treacherous dynamic within the household, ultimately uncovering shocking truths that put her own life at risk.
Together, the reader and Millie Calloway will unfold the dark secrets of the Winchester family. McFadden's beautiful and skillful writing makes this a book that you just can't put down once you have started. All the unexpected and exciting twists and character developments make this book the best fiction book I've read this year. There is also some romance in the book, just in case you're into romance books. Millie and her lover's (I'll not spoil the name) relationship is truly fascinating and adds to the surprise of the astounding ending.
I would recommend this book to any young adult reader who enjoys a gripping mystery book that is so amazing that you just can't stop reading. Even though this is an amazing book, I wouldn't recommend it to any young readers who are under the age of 12, since the book does contain some spicy content. Overall, I extremely enjoyed this book, and I'll also continue to read the other two books of this series: The Housemaid's Secret and The Housemaid's Watching.
