Book Review: The Mountain Is You

By Brianna Wiest

5 Stars

The Mountain Is You by Brianna Wiest is a self-help book that deals with self-sabotage and the pathway to self-mastery. The book revolves around the idea that we are the only ones standing in the way of our own success, we are our only limit and the trajectory of our life is in our hands. The book is concise and easy to read. This is a good self-help book for readers who are just getting into self-help books. The book uses many subheadings and bold words, which helps the readers follow along easier. She also gave many real-life examples of each topic she delved into, which were relatable and actually helped me pinpoint specific ways in my life in which I was sabotaging myself. I found that this book is really impactful as it is quite cut and dry, whilst also being meaningful. Wiest does an excellent job of not sugarcoating or over-elaborating and just provides the essential information. Throughout the chapters, the author also provided journal prompts and self-inquiry prompts, which is a great way to make sure that we are thinking more deeply about what we read. The book also provides activities like breathing exercises, meditation exercises, and visualization prompts. This book definitely left me with a lot to take away. It has given me more insight to what the purpose of life is, revealed more about my childhood traumas, and changed my perspective entirely on adversities. I would recommend this book to readers 16+ as I think they will be able to grasp the book with maximum efficiency.
