By Alex Michaelides
5 Stars
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides is honestly one of the most intense, mind-blowing books I’ve ever read. If you’re into mysteries or thrillers that mess with your head, this book will keep you hooked the entire time.
The stories about a woman named Alicia, who’s famous for one shocking reason: she shot her husband and then never spoke a single word again. Like, completely silent. A psychotherapist named Theo becomes obsessed with figuring out why she did it and tries to help her speak again. That’s all I could say, because going in with little info makes it even better.
What I like most is how you’re always questioning what’s real and who to believe. The writing is super easy to follow, even though the story is pretty deep. It’s not boring at all; every chapter adds something new. It’s some parts seriously made me pause and go, “wait, what!??”
The ending is what really blew my mind. I had no idea it was coming, and when the twist hit, I had to reread a few pages to fully take it in. It’s one of those books where the whole story looks different once you finish it.
If you’re someone who likes dark stories with a psychological edge, and you enjoy trying to figure out secrets before the characters do, you should definitely read The Silent Patient. It’s creepy, smart, and honestly unforgettable. I couldn’t stop thinking about it afterwards.
