The Third Twin is a good book that is worth giving a try. It is from the perspective of Lexi, who has an identical twin, Ava. When they were little, they made up a third twin to get out of mischief - Alicia. Now they're seniors and have brought Alicia back. This time to date boys who are handsome but just not good enough to date their real selves. They go on no more than 5 dates with these boys and then leave just for fun. But things take a turn when the boys Alicia dates turn up dead, all dying the same cruel way. The sisters know it has to either be one of them or there's someone pretending to be them.
The things I liked about this book are the plot and story. I love the theme of the story and the way it makes me feel dread just by reading. The mystery is so captivating that it will keep you on the edge of your seat. The final twist is completely unexpected. The thing I just love is how the personalities of both girls are shown, even though they're identical. Ava is more easygoing than Lexi. Ava is willing to take risks, but Lexi isn't. Ava defines herself by the things she enjoys, and Lexi defines herself by the things she achieves. These differences influence the way they act, even when they're pretending to be the perfect Alicia, some parts of their own selves show, which I think is really well done.
I do not like how the first half of the book is slow, but the second half is suddenly very fast. I guess the first half is slow (plot-wise) to set the scene and introduce all possible victims and suspects. I would have appreciated it if it was just a bit fast(er) paced. I also personally felt the after-effects scene could have been more satisfying.
