Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. McManus is a thrilling mystery. The story revolves around two teens, Ellery and her twin brother Ezra, who move to a small town with a dark history. The town, Echo Ridge, has a reputation for secrets, especially after a homecoming queen went missing five years ago, and now there's a new threat. What I liked about the book is how the people in Echo Ridge town added a really eerie vibe. Everyone there seemed to have their own secrets, and it was pretty clear they were keeping something hush-hush. I couldn't help but wonder what was really going on with them.
The way they act shady, with their hidden stuff and unclear pasts, really amped up the story's suspense. It kept me guessing and changing my mind about what was really going on and who was behind it. Also, I found that certain details and information were repeated multiple times throughout the book, which I felt slowed down the plot and made it seem less interesting. I would have preferred it if the story moved forward more smoothly without being repetitive. The main characters in this book, though, were well-developed, and it was helpful that the book didn't just focus on one character's point of view. Overall, I would give this book 4/5 stars, and if you're a fan of small-town mysteries, this book is worth your time.
