5 Stars
Wings of Fire: The Hive Queen by Tui T. Sutherland is the 12th book in a currently 15-book series called the Wings of Fire series. This series is about different dragons fighting a new evil every 5 books.
The Hive Queen was a great read due to its anticipation and plot. This book continues the events from Wings of Fire: The Lost Continent. Anywho, The Hive Queen is about a HiveWing (a type
of dragon) dragonet named Cricket who attempts to save her tribe from Queen Wasp's (the HiveWing queen) mind control powers (powers that don't work on Cricket) with her newfound friends while also saving her loved ones from the queen's treacherous claws. In this book, Cricket and her friends embark on a mission to learn how Queen Wasp's mind control powers work and stop her before it's too late.
A part of the book I especially liked was when Cricket and her friends learned how Queen Wasp's powers work and how to defeat her, as that part of the book greatly dumfounded Cricket and her friends. However, I didn't like the part where one of Cricket's loved ones stubbornly refused to see that Queen Wasp is evil, as it was crystal clear in that moment that the queen is evil.
I would recommend this book to children and young teens for its compelling mystery, its fiction, and its vivid descriptions. To conclude, I give this book 5 stars mainly for its enthralling mystery and its striking descriptions.
