Book Review: Wonder

By  R. J. Palacio

5 Stars

Wonder is about a boy named Auggie, who happens to look different, so when he starts attending a new school, he faces challenges. The story shows his journey and how his classmates learn about kindness and acceptance.

As he faces the challenges of going to school for the first time, I liked how most of the story is told from different points of view, not just Auggie's but also his sister's, friends, and others. This helps show how one person's journey can affect so many people around them.

I also liked how the characters felt authentic, like they were facing their own challenges and changes. Auggie's bravery is inspiring, but I also liked how the other characters grew. His sister Via struggles with feeling left out, and his friend Jack learns important lessons about friendship/kindness.

The book shows the tough reality of bullying and prejudice, but also moments of kindness and friendship, reminding us that we are all just human. It teaches us that our actions DO affect others and that we should choose to be kind.

Even though this book is for children, its message can touch readers of all ages. It makes you think about yourself and encourages you to be accepting of all people. Therefore, I recommend Wonder to anyone of all ages looking for a book that inspires. Helping people look at the truth of their actions and how they can reflect and grow from them.
