The second book in the Amulet series after the first book was carried out very well as a sequel to the first book with them smoothly introducing new characters that potentially could have more of a role to enhance the story further.
With the main characters' parents, Emily and Navin's mother, being kidnapped and saved in the previous book, they venture into the fabled city of Kanalis, where they have a chance to find the cure that they are looking for to inevitably save their mother while also being filled with characters from the elven faction including Prince Trellis who is now an exiled prince and Leon Redbeard who is a fox. Then, they finally get the medicine they need and go back.
With stunning visuals and amazing choice of words like the first book this book upholds the depth is the storyline The first book also had but there were also a bit of change of pace that seemed quicker than the first book that might become too fast for weaker readers.
Overall, I gave this book a 4/5 stars as character development so far is amazing with Prince Trellis' introduction leading to more interesting books in the future and the author's amazing use of wording while writing the story makes the depth of the story even deeper.
