Movie Review: Black Widow

Directed by Cate Shortland

4 Stars

Natasha Romanoff, better known as Black Widow, is forced to deal with her broken past and repair wounded relationships that took place long before she ever became an Avenger. She does this all with the help of her sister, Yelena Bolova and a few people she calls family.

This movie is filled with action and overflowing with explosions (as a Marvel movie should be). In my opinion, this movie is a great addition to Marvel Studios. Marvel's Black Widow is a movie that is visually appealing and interesting. The movie gives the audience a fair amount of background knowledge about this mysterious Russian spy and assassin. This leaves the viewers to empathize with the characters throughout the movie. The characters in this movie develop quite a bit, leaving the movie with incredible characters.

Being someone who has always been a fan of the Marvel universe, I have always wondered what Black Widow's story was. This movie explains her story very well and has cured my curiosity about Black Widow's history. I loved how they weaved in Black Widow's Avengers storyline instead of ignoring it. I feel like the movie was a bit "all over the place," so I am rating it 4/5, but in the end, it is an amazing movie. I would recommend this movie to anyone who loves action-packed movies sprinkled with a little comedy. I believe anyone that loves The Avengers movie series would love this movie because it is a little backstory on how Black Widow came to be.
