Movie Review: Speed Racer

Directed by Lana Wachowski

5 Stars

Speed Racer is one of the most amazing movies ever made, based on the Manga series. This exciting film is about Speed Racer, who is a young driver born into a family business of race cars. He lost his brother, Rex Racer, in the most intense and dangerous race in history, the Casta Cristo 5000. Speed Racer is given an offer to drive for Royalton Industries, a big-time company in the racing industry, but he denies the offer to drive for his family instead. But as it turns out, he discovers that Royalton rigs the races and adds illegal modified boosts to win the races! Another racing team offers to give evidence of this funny business if Speed Racer and Racer X, a mysterious masked racer, drive for them in the upcoming Casta Cristo race. Later, to continue his quest for fair and sustainable racing practices, Speed enters the Casta Cristo 5000. Yup, that's right, the very same one that killed his brother.

This movie is a masterpiece. On a scale from 1 - 10, it's an 11. Truly amazing plot and many twists, turns and loops. Top-tier acting from some of your favourite actors, like Matthew Fox and Emile Hirsh, who both deliver mind-blowing performances. If that all isn't enough, it's directed by the directors of The Matrix. THE. MATRIX. I could not recommend this movie enough. Perfect for all ages, adults and kids and everything in between. Plus, there's a cute monkey. Borrow this for your next family movie night!
