New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is a 2D side-scroller. It is a platformer for the Nintendo Switch developed by Nintendo. The game still has the same controllers as the original Mario games, meaning that your parents or young children could enjoy the simple controllers. The game was first released on the Wii U; the Switch version adds the New Super Luigi U DLC. The game offers 150+ levels. You can play by yourself or with four people; it's fun for single player and multiplayer. The game is the same as all Mario games: you run, jump, collect coins, and jump on enemies across different worlds. The game feels amazing; it is very smooth and responsive. Making everything you do feel satisfying, the level design is clever without being too hard. There are multiple worlds, including deserts, grassy plains, and an ice area. The graphics are bright and colourful. The art style is instantly recognizable, still keeping the classic Mario look but with a newer and better look. The character animations are very smooth and polished. They are very expressive; you can see the amount of work they put into the animations. Every single jump run looks like there were hours of work put into it. The enemies have the same story; they are well animated, similarly to the background, the dancing flowers and trees bring everything to life. The music is happy, iconic, and remixed. However, the game is not perfect; it is too easy. If you had played any other 2D platformer, it would be very easy. Another problem is the multiplayer; although fun, it can get very chaotic and often give you the feeling of not knowing what is going on. Still, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is a solid and fun platformer, great for younger players or experts.
