Is your school ready for the challenge?
Each year in April, the "Battle of the Books" teams from schools in Oshawa, led by a teacher or teacher-librarian, meet for the Semi-Battle competition. The top three teams from each division advance to the Final Battle to compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals. Gold medal winners receive a trophy for their school and advance to the Regional Championship.
The Battle of the Books is hosted at two levels: the junior division is for students in grades 4-6, and the intermediate division is for students in grades 7 and 8.

Book lists available, and registration opens on September 25, 2026.
- Apr. 6, 2027, at 12:00 pm: Junior Semi-Finals
- Apr. 8, 2027, at 12:00 pm: Intermediate Semi-Finals
- Apr. 13, 2027, at 12:00 pm: Junior, followed by Intermediate Finals
- Apr. 15, 2027, at 6:30 pm: Junior Regional Finals
- Apr. 15, 2027, at 8:00 pm: Intermediate Regional Finals
