Suggest a Purchase

Oshawa Public Libraries welcomes suggestions for titles to be added to our collection. All suggestions are evaluated according to the Library’s Collection Development Policy, including customer demand, publication quality, availability, and budget.

E-books and audiobooks

For Self-Published Authors

If you wish to submit your self-published title for consideration for inclusion in the collection, please read our guidelines and criteria.

Purchase Request Form Guidelines

  • Titles should not already be available at OPL. Please check the Library catalogue before submitting your suggestion.
  • Please avoid suggesting any title not yet published (including popular books or movies) as it is likely most of these titles will be ordered.
  • We usually do not purchase titles more than two years old, and recommend submitting an interlibrary loan request, opens a new window. 
  • Due to the nature of video game distribution and release, we cannot accept suggestions to purchase these items.
  • To submit a request, you must have a valid Oshawa Public Libraries card.
  • Purchase suggestions can take up to six (6) months to be filled. 

We regret we are unable to order every item suggest and that the volume of suggestions prevents us from responding individually and placing holds for customers. If an item is purchased, it will appear in our online catalogue for you to place a hold.
