The book Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard discusses a girl named Mare who lives in a world of cruelty that defines people by blood, categorized by Red and Silver. One day, after miraculously surviving an attack by a Silver, she gets recruited by the kingdom only to figure out that she has a special power that is only eligible for noble Silvers. It is then decided that she becomes the wife of Prince Maven, the youngest son of the royal family.
According to many critics, the book is well-written and keeps readers hooked. In my opinion, I felt that the book was lacking in many aspects. The plot confused me since she was first Red by blood and then is considered Silver and back to Red again. The characters that were described in the book didn't stand out to me in a particular way. I felt that the writing was very inconsistent and did not interest me at all. One positive aspect of this book is that the description is well-elaborated. This book wasn't very interesting, and the dialogues and messages interpreted were extremely repetitive, to the point that I barely understood the story. Although the author provides relevant points about opposition, discrimination, and the hierarchy of the old times, I feel that the book had so much more potential to outshine others if the plot made sense and everything seemed put together.
