Video Game Review: Animal Crossing. New Horizons

5 Stars

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a life simulation game that allows you to create your island so that you can do everything you like. Decorate your house, design islands, collect items, and make friends with several of the animal villagers. You either take your own sweet time or do whatever you want with your time. The freedom of doing whatever you want is what makes the game shine; it doesn't pressure you to finish anything. Rather, it wants you to unwind, personalize your experience, and set the island to your liking. Updates throughout the year keep the game fresh, with events changing seasonally and with online updates. From cherry blossom season to Halloween, each event offers new items and new opportunities for interaction and mini goals that give you something fun to look forward to in visiting friends. Online islands are another bright part of the game, with inspiration, gifting and community

engagement that add a feel of purpose and creativity beyond your own island. The graphics in the game are fun and relaxing; the characters are small, the atmosphere is calm, and everything just moves slowly and steadily, along with music to match that vibe, set in a soft world. That said, some parts can be repetitive; you may find yourself doing the exact same thing every single day. The game can provide some waiting here and there, limiting progress. For gamers looking for a fast-paced experience, the game will probably come off as slow and dull. But for people who enjoy a slow-paced game living, with that charm of characters, a slow, cushy escape like this is the sort of experience that gently eases you into a world of infinite creativity.
