Teen Advisory Group Application Form

Need service hours? Want a say in what happens at the Library? Sign up to join the Teen Advisory Group, and meet with us to talk about how the library can serve youth in our community. Open to teens ages 13-18.

When joining the Teen Advisory Group, teens must read and sign the TAG Code of Conduct.

Teen Advisory Group FAQ

  • The Teen Advisory Group (TAG) empowers teens to become active participants in shaping their peers' library experiences. Through program planning, resource suggestions (such as book displays and Teen Gaming station recommendations), and advocating for teen needs, TAG members develop leadership skills, connect with like-minded individuals, and make a real impact on their community.

  • Teens need to fill out the application form and use their own email address. A key part of TAG is fostering independence and developing real-life skills to prepare you for the future — taking responsibility for TAG communications is a great first step!

  • Meeting times can be found on our website here. Reminders will be sent to TAG members the day before each meeting via email and on the Teen Discord Server. TAG meets in person at the McLaughlin and Delpark Branches. Once you have been accepted into the program, you can attend any meeting at either location.

  • After receiving the email of acceptance into the program, you can start earning Community Service Hours by attending TAG meetings.

If you're currently in Grade 8, please be aware that any volunteer hours completed before the summer leading into Grade 9 will not count toward the 40 Community Service Hours required by High Schools.

  • When you are ready to collect your volunteer hours, you can submit your Community Service Hours form to the TAG supervising staff to sign, either in person or via email. We would recommend that you wait until you have accumulated several hours before collecting. Staff will track your meeting attendance to ensure you receive all volunteer hours earned at either location or through Special Events.

  • Your High School will provide you with the Community Services Hours form for your school. If you are unsure where to find it, speak with your homeroom teacher or guidance counsellor.
