Video Game Review: Minecraft

Minecraft has a simple concept: mine for resources, then use them to craft whatever you dream of. Since 2009, Minecraft has grown from a simple video game concept into a lasting cultural phenomenon. However, despite its simple objective, Minecraft supports a wide range of player interests with its unique game settings, making it a more universal gaming experience. From 'creative' worlds where users have access to unlimited resources to build with, to 'hardcore' worlds where players must obtain their own resources to survive and cannot continue in that world after dying, Minecraft has a game mode for everyone. Players can mine, craft, fight monsters, breed animals, hunt for treasure, and more, providing a great mix of creativity and adventure.

Minecraft's best feature is its immersiveness. The game's atmosphere can easily change from serene to threatening depending on your location in the world, and there are unique soundtracks for each location and time of day. The game's sound and visuals help immerse the players in their world, creating a realistic and enticing gaming experience.

Another enjoyable feature of Minecraft is that people can play the game long term, working towards their own desired objective(s) rather than one set by the game or completing defined levels. As well, if a player meets their objective(s), they can save the world and play in a new one, with new objectives that prevent the game from feeling repetitive or complete.

Overall, Minecraft is a very versatile game suitable for many kinds of gameplay and ages, making it a staple in the gaming industry.
