Movie Review: Weathering With You

Weathering With You is honestly the best movie I’ve ever seen. It’s so heartwarming and just really beautiful to watch. The story is about Hodaka, a runaway boy, and Hina, a girl with the magical ability to stop the rain and bring sunshine. I loved how the movie mixes normal everyday life with a magical twist; it makes the whole story feel real but also really special. The way Hodaka and Hina’s friendship grows throughout the movie is so touching, and you can’t help but root for them the whole time. The animation is absolutely AMAZING. Every scene is full of colour, detail, and movement, and the rain scenes in particular are breathtaking. You can almost feel the raindrops and the atmosphere of Tokyo. The way light and weather are used to match the mood of the story is incredible. The music is another big highlight. Every song fits perfectly and makes the emotional moments hit even harder. I loved the way the soundtrack worked with the animation; it really pulled me into the story and made me feel like I was right there with the characters. The characters themselves are amazing, too. Hodaka and Hina both feel like real people, and their struggles and decisions feel believable. Some of the side characters are fun and interesting too, and they add extra depth to the story without taking away from the main plot. If I could, I would give this movie more than 5 stars. It’s funny, exciting, sad, and heartwarming all at the same time. I would recommend it to anyone who likes anime, magical stories, or movies that make you feel deeply. Weathering With You is one of those rare movies that really sticks with you, and I know I’ll probably watch it again and again and again.
