Series Review: Oshi No Ko

A doctor and his patient get reincarnated into the children of an idol. This book contains slight gore, suicide, incest, and romance themes.

I like the concept of the plot and how it demonstrates the life of someone in the entertainment industry and the struggles entertainers deal with. People tend to believe that working in the entertainment industry is very simple and easy to do, when in reality, there are many risks, such as stalkers and personal issues that have to be neglected just to please your audience. Additionally, I like the songs that were made by their idol group. They have a very generic J-pop vibe to them.

I did not like how the story progressed after the twins found out their career path. The relationship between the two ruins the whole story and the potential it had. Their relationship did not need to progress the way it did. In general, the whole ending was honestly terrible and disappointing. If you plan to read this, I recommend only reading the first season and then making up the rest in your head, because otherwise you will be very disappointed.

To be honest, I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone because they would just be set up for disappointment – however if I had to, I would recommend to teenage girls, as it is a shoujo manga with romance themes, which teenage girls typically enjoy.

I would rate this a 2/5. It was good until it wasn’t. For anyone who likes reading this, I do suggest checking out the anime as well as the songs from the idol group.
